To Be Continued

OK. When I was much younger I discovered something that might make some people very happy. I appear to be the only man who knows it, but for me the topic has always felt too awkward and embarrassing to share. On the other hand, I’d hate for the knowledge to die with me. I could post it somewhere anonymously, but I figured it out myself, dammit, and that doesn’t happen every day.

Here’s one final TMI warning: Way back when, if I had somehow worked this into a pick-up line, the most encouraging response would have been, “Wow. Can you teach my boyfriend?”

There will be no illustrations.

It turns out that a man can order his mind so that the little death comes not as the end. Instead, things proceed directly with no discomfort into a sort of little afterlife, which can go on indefinitely. For hours. Really.

This is not a way to forestall the event. It is a way to go beyond it without interruption.

By way of background, an apparently common technique for self-hypnosis is to creae a nexus of relaxation, such as closed eyelids, and use breathing and visualization to mentally distribute that relaxation throughout the body. For example, one might imagine the relaxation is colored light, and breathe it in from its nexus and out into the body and limbs. Very relaxing.

As an experiment, consider likewise visualizing a particular tension, you know what I mean, and using similar techniques to draw the tension away from its ordinary nexus and distribute it throughout the body. In this way, the tension peaks everywhere instead of at one particular spot. Also very relaxing, in a different way. This allows otherwise overwhelmed tissue to continue without shrinking from its duty.

A cursory review indicates current best practice in the field is unaware of this technique. The, ahem, reviewed literature cops out and says it is safest to accept the little death and have a nice rest. Certainly due caution is indicated, but the above technique has been used (without medication) with no apparent harm. As with all things, your mileage may vary.
