Oops, I Did It Again…

It’s true. I admit it. Yesterday’s post was a real yawner. I apologize.

It didn’t start out that way. When I started on it, it was going to have real pathos, humor, and human interest, blended artfully with all those nuts and bolts… well, maybe not. But at least would have had some rationale, and I’m pretty sure there was a prat fall in there somewhere. Problem is, I had three paragraphs written before I got to the first fact. At that rate, I was liable to post a Russian novel.

So I trimmed a bit here, and a bit more there, and before long it was all “just the facts, ma’am” tech writing, more or less like I used to get paid for; only without the diagrams and tables.

I think the trick would have been to break it up into smaller chunks: maybe a post just about chair arm structure, another about nesting steel tubes securely, and another about tie downs. That’s three posts without much more actual fact, if any, but maybe with more background and interest, and a little more chance for the facts to actually sink in.

Oh well, live and learn. Maybe I’ll do better next time.
